Michael Artita revealed his conception of Arsenal to raise the Premier League title in the last game at home this season – and called on his club to strengthen his team in the transfer window as part of “very sexy summer”.
On Sunday, Arsenal Newcastle takes the super match at home this season. Gunners 15 points behind the Premier League champion Liverpool and can lose second place against Magpies if they lose.
It was a scenario completely different from what Arsenal manager imagined in August.
“At the beginning of the season, if I had to imagine that moment, she will play the last match on its home on the last day and raised the Premier League. This was what I had in my head,” James Savundra said in an exclusive interview.
“Now, with everything we have passed in the past 11 months, I think we can all carry our heads but we still have this pain in the abdomen, because this is what we want to achieve.”
Arsenal has now gone five consecutive seasons without silver tools, after it came out of the semi -finals of the Champions League and the Carabao Cup, while it came out of the third round of the FA Cup by Manchester United.
When asked about the main reasons for not achieving their goals this season, Arteta was very clear: “red cards and injuries, for sure.” Gunners has been injured more than any other Premier League team this season, while the six who send the six messengers also rise.
“But without that, we don’t know what was happening,” Arsenal president added. “Were we much closer? For me, the answer is without a question, yes. Because of what we did and the offers we have.
“But we will have to do something else (next season) because the bar will be raised.
“And when you look at the points that we went through in the past three seasons, the consistency of the lack of winning the title of something is very rare. So we are very close, very close to the possibility, we have to continue to be there and be better.”
I paid more than Arsenal statistics this season, and Arsenal manager said: “One is the availability. Without this one, you have no chance to win anything.
“There are some other statistics that are very related to winning football matches – not only dominated, but to win them.
“But we are very clear about what brings us success and what we have to do, then work on them, and to be more efficient and be better. The other is the ability to change games every three days and during the match – where we have a big margin.”
More numbers, replace exits and a new attacker? Arteta on transportation plans
The conversation soon moved to the transfer window and what Arsenal needed this season. ARTETA believes that Gunners will need a larger team to compete with Liverpool next season.
Arsenal manager also believes that stars are outside the contract – such as Thomas Partey and Jorginho – you may need to replace them, as well as the return of loan players such as Raheem Steling and Neto.
Meanwhile, the likes of Gabriel Maglis and Gabriel Jesus have come out of long -term injuries and have struggled for the beginning of next season.
“We definitely need this,” he said about the summer signatures. “With the numbers that we started in this season and (numbers) to provide for the next season, with the demands that we will get, especially with the players who are exposed to long -term surgeries, they are very unrealistic (to present prizes).
“We know that we must address this and we will do everything we can to improve.
“Especially because we will lose many players. There are players outside the contract, and there are players who came here on loan.
“So the team becomes really thin at the top of the injuries that we have. We know that we have this duty, and the necessity of this and we have players in the academy that can help. Wonderful, but if we don’t know what we have to do.”
When asked if one of the new center was on the transport list, ARTETA replied: “All that is in both squares makes you better, I think – at the end of the day – it is an essential element. We all know that.”
ARTETA and BERTA are in line with what is required
Arteta also promised a “very exciting summer” in North London, and he and the new sports director Andrea Berta are completely compatible with what is required in the transportation market.
The head of Atletico Maddid, Perta, arrived in Arsenal in March, to replace former sports director Edou Jasbar, who suddenly left the club in September.
“It will be a very exciting summer,” said Artita. First of all, review what we have done. Find ways to increase the team level. Find large margins where we can still develop the game model and our players, then put these plans together, and play the season before the season.
“Then if we do not have enough of it, this is about what we need to employ now to make the difference.”
In response to a question about the talks he had with Berta, Artita replied: “Since the first day, when we were meeting this role. It was in front of him, it was very clear that, for me, what this team should go to the next level.
“You can say – the experience he enjoys, he built great teams and the main prizes he won – a person with this clarity is very useful.”
