Local police say the rescue mission is underway to reach many people buried in an ice collapse on Mount Egger in the Swiss Alps.
Berne Cantonal police said in a statement on social media, that the iceberg took off shortly after mid -Saturday.
They said they launched a large -scale operation that included many rescue teams looking for people.
The EIGER summit is 3967 meters (13,000 feet) near Grindelwald, LAUTERBRUNNN and Wengen resorts.
