European leaders speak to the US President after the failure of the Ukraine talks to achieve a major breakthrough.

European leaders have agreed to increase joint action against Russia because of its failure to agree to a cease-fire British Prime Minister Care Starmer said with Ukraine at a meeting on Friday, after talks with US President Donald Trump.

Russia’s Ukraine talks in Istanbul also concluded on Friday, called Starmer and colleagues from France, Germany and Poland-alongside Ukrainian President Voludmir Zelinski-the US President from a summit in Albania to discuss “developments” in the negotiations.

the Talks in Istanbul The first direct talks between officials from RWO were more than three years. They lasted less than two hours, and the aspects agreed on the largest exchange of prisoners since the beginning of the war in 2022, but they failed to achieve a major breakthrough in the ceasefire.

“We held a meeting with President Zelinsky, then a phone call with President Trump to discuss developments in the negotiations today,” said Starmer of the capital of Albania, Tirana, where the leaders of dozens of European countries were gathered at the European Political Society Summit.

It is clear that the Russian position is unacceptable, and not for the first time.

“Therefore, as a result of this meeting with President Zelinski and that call with President Trump, we are now closely consistent with our responses and we will continue to do so.”

French President Emmanuel Macron told the correspondents that if Putin continues to refuse to a ceasefire, “we will need a response and thus the escalation of sanctions,” which he said, “was re -formulated” by European countries and the United States.

Shadow Fleet in Russia in the European Union

Macron said it was too early to provide details of the “re -drafted” sanctions, but European Commission President Ursula von der Lin pledged to “increase pressure.”

She said on Friday that the measures will target the shadow fleet for the shocking shipping ships that Russia uses to overcome international sanctions and the Nord Stream pipeline. The financial sector in Russia will also be targeted.

Earlier, Zelinski said that Ukraine was committed to ending the war, but urged European leaders to increase sanctions “against the energy and banking sector in Russia” if Putin continued to withdraw his feet in talks.

“I think Putin has made a mistake by sending a low -level delegation,” said NATO Secretary -General Mark Retti. “It is clear that the ball is from his side from the field now, at its stadium. He has to play the ball. He must be serious about the desire for peace.”
