After more than three years of war in Ukraine, simple cultural pleasures such as seeing a comic show or going to the theater have become moments of shelter and resisting the people of Kiev. Foreign artists have almost stopped traveling to the country since Russia has widely invaded, but one of those who have a Spanish leader Felix Ardanaz. Speaking of the France 24 perspective program, Ardanaz narrated his experience in leading the performance of “Carmen” at the National Opera in Ukraine. He said he was “shocked” to find out how people in Kiev used to live in a “permanent state of danger”, adding that the musicians who decided to stay in Ukraine to continue the country’s cultural scene are “real heroes.”
