European Kiev allies supported the establishment of a special court to hold senior Russian leaders, including President Vladimir Putin, for the conquest of Ukraine for the year 2022.

Meanwhile, Russia refused to respond to court news. “We are not interacting with this,” said Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Carmamin, on Friday.

A European Union official told a Reuters news agency that the court will have to respect Putin and the immunity of his officials while they are in office, but the prosecutor can investigate and suggest a ready -made indictment when immunity is dropped.

Dutch Justice Minister David van Wale welcomed this step and told Reuters that the court was a good step because it “filled a currently existing void.”

“This is how you can prosecute the leadership of the crime of aggression against another country,” he said.

While the court can start work this year, it is not the only legal tool used against Russia for its war against Ukraine.

In 2023, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest orders to Putin and other Russian officials to deport children and attacks on Ukrainian energy sites.

Frozen Russian origins

Elsewhere on Friday, France announced that it would start taking advantage of the income from the frozen Russian origins to help maintain about 60 French Hottozer, which was delivered to Ukraine.

French Foreign Minister Jean -Nula Barrot said that the use of funds will ensure “the continuous maintenance of the Caesar defender, which it provided to Ukraine to help resist Russian attacks.”
