German lawmakers are scheduled to vote on Tuesday whether conservative leader Friedrich Mirz will become the country’s tenth adviser since World War II. “As a party against AFD, MERZ must work to try to reach 2029 in a situation where the Germans no longer vote in favor of the far right in large numbers,” said Nick Holdzworth, France 24 correspondent in Berlin. The Mirz portfolio will include the war in Ukraine and the Trump administration’s commercial policy at the top of local issues such as the stagnant economy and the rise of the extreme right.
