Ukraine said it struck a drone unit in the Corsak region, amid reports of new attempts to cross into Russia.

The Sunday attack on the unit is located near the Russian village of Tyotkino, according to Ukrainian public employees.

Several Russian military bloggers also reported that the Ukrainian forces have tried to cross into the village, and published the photos – so far they have not been verified by the BBC – from vehicles that cut tank traps on the border.

Reports come after Moscow claimed in April that it has regained control of the entire area, nine months after the Ukrainian forces launched a sudden invasion. Kyiv insists that he still has soldiers working across the border.

On Monday, the Ukrainian forces fired rockets over the border and crossed the minefields in private vehicles, according to the bloggers.

“The enemy blew up bridges with missiles at night and launched an attack with armored groups in the morning,” blogger Rvvoenkor said, according to Reuters.

“Mines removal vehicles started making clips in the minefields, followed by armored vehicles with forces. There is a heavy battle running on the border.”

In a statement on Monday, Ukraine said: “Nine months after the start of the Cursk operation, the defense forces in Ukraine maintain a military presence on the lands of the Russian Kursk region.”

Although there is no official response from Moscow, some military bloggers have also published maps showing the conflicting forces trying to cross the border in two places towards Tyotkino – near the place where they were subjected to a drone driver unit.

Meanwhile, in Sumi – about 12 km across the border of Tyotkino in northeastern Ukraine – local authorities urged people to evacuate two settlements, Reuters said.

Ukraine has already suddenly penetrated into Kursk in August 2024 to create a SUMY insulation and protect the surrounding areas, also with hope to use it as a bargaining in future negotiations.
