Donald Trump says he is directing his government to reopen and expand the former prison on an island off the California coast.
In a message about his social website on Sunday, President Trump said, “The very long America has plagued criminals and criminals.”
He said that the reopening of the Catrazing would be a “symbol of law, order and justice.”
The prison was closed in 1963, and Alcatraz is currently working as a tourist site. It is located near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
“Today, I am directing the Prison Office, along with the Ministry of Justice and the Federal Investigation Office and Internal Security, to reopen and rebuild it.”
The prison “includes the most ruthless perpetrators in America.”
President Trump was clashing with the courts regarding his policy of sending alleged gang members to a prison in El Salvador. In March, he sent a group of more than 200 members of the alleged Venezuelan gang there. He also talked about sending “local criminals” to foreign prisons.
Alcatraz was originally a fortress for marine defense, and it was It was rebuilt in the early twentieth century as a military prison. In the 1930s, the Ministry of Justice took over and began to obtain convicts from the Federal Prison System. Among her most famous prisoners, the notorious gangsters were Al -Kabouni, Mickey Cohen and George Kelly.
The prison was also famous through the 1962 movie, Berdeman of Alacatraz, starring Bert Lancaster, about the convicted killer Robert Strud, who developed a life sentence on the island of the prison in the bird and took over as an expert doctor.
It was also a 1996 movie site, starring Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage, about the former Captain Sas and the Federal Investigation Office that saves the hostages from Alacatraz Island.
The prison was closed because it was very expensive to continue working, according to the Federal Prison Office website. The work was three times more expensive than any other federal prison, which is largely due to the Al -Jazeera site.
