The US President claims that Hollywood is “very rapid death” although the revenues of $ 30 billion in 2024.

US President Donald Trump has announced plans to impose a 100 percent tariff on foreign films, claiming that Hollywood is going through “very rapid death” due to external competition.

In a publication on social media on Sunday, Trump said that he directed the US Department of Commerce and the American Trade Representative to start immediately the process of imposing a tariff on films “and all” films that were produced in “foreign lands”.

“Other countries offer all types of incentives to attract filmmakers and studios away from the United States. Hollywood, and many other areas within the United States of America, destroy,” Trump said on the truth platform.

“This is a concerted effort by other countries, and thus the threat of national security. It is, in addition to everything else, messages and advertising!”

When asked about correspondents about the customs tariff later on Sunday, Trump claimed that the United States is making “very few films now.”

“Other countries, many of them, have stolen our film industry,” he said. “If they are not ready to shoot a movie inside the United States, we must have a tariff for the films that come.”

Trump did not explain how such a tariff will work in practice, including whether it will be applied to Hollywood features that involve shooting and production across multiple countries.

Trump’s advertisement follows his appointment in January from actors Sylvester Stallone, Mile Gibson and John Voett as “private ambassadors” charged with returning Hollywood’s works against other countries.

At that time, Trump said that the actors will be “my eyes and my ears” as he was deployed in the position of a “golden age in Hollywood”.

Hollywood has faced difficult commercial conditions in recent years, amid the repercussions of the Covid-19s and the actors’ strike for 2023.

The Hollywood Studios achieved about $ 30 billion around the world last year, a decrease of about 7 percent from 2023, according to the Street Analysis.

While last year’s performance was an improvement in revenues in 2020, 2021 and 2022, it was still about 20 less than average prenatal, according to Gower Street Analytics.
