Russian recruits train to fight in the first year of the war on a large scale

Last year was the bloodiest of Russian forces since the beginning of the comprehensive war in Ukraine: at least 4,5287 people were killed.

This is almost three times in the first year of the invasion and greatly exceeded the losses in 2023, when the battle of the longest and bloody war was taking place in Khumat.

At the beginning of the war, losses occurred in the waves during the battles of the main sites, but the year 2024 witnessed an increase in one month in the death toll as the front line advanced forward forward, which enabled us to prove that Russia lost at least 27 life against every one kilometer of Ukrainian lands.

The Russian BBC service, in cooperation with the independent media, media media and a team of volunteers, has dealt with open sources of sources of sources of Russian cemeteries, military memorials and challenges.

So far, we have identified the names of 106,745 Russian soldiers who were killed during the comprehensive invasion of Ukraine.

It is clear that the real number is much higher. Military experts estimate that our number may cover between 45 % and 65 % of deaths, which means that 164223 to 237,211 people.

February 20, 2024 was the bloodiest day for Russian forces in 2024.

Among the losses were Aldar Peruv, Igor Beach, and OCOCONGENGENGAMOMov, who were with the thirty -sixth Venice Brigade when four long -range Himses Hames missiles were hit near Volinovaka in the occupied Donetsk.

They were ordered to line up the medal ceremony. Sixty -five soldiers were killed, including their leader, Colonel Moussaif. Dozens were injured.

Peruv, 22, and Buryatia in East Siberia, has studied to be a food sanitation specialist but was formulated for compulsory military service and then signed a contract to become a professional soldier.

In February 2022, he went to fight in Ukraine and was part of the battle for Borodiana during the progress of its brigade towards Kiev in March 2022. The city was almost completely destroyed. Ukrainian sources say that the Russian soldiers were involved in the execution of civilians.

The Peruv (left), OCOCONGON Rustamov (C) and Igor Beetich were killed on a strike on February 20 last year.

Okhunjon Rustamov, 31 and Chita in Siberia, worked as a welding after she spent a mandatory term in the Special Forces. It was mobilized during a partial draft in October 2022.

Unlike Rustamov, Igor Babych, 32, to go to war. He has worked with adults and children with cerebral palsy, which helps them in physical therapy until April 2023.

In the total of 201 Russian soldiers died that day, according to our data.

A few hours after the strike on the training land, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigo Vladimir Putin met to bring news of military success from the confrontation line.

There was no mention of the training ground attack, and there was no word from the Ministry of Defense in its daily reports.

A relative of Okhunjon Rustamov said she had already buried three family members close to the war. “In December 2022, my husband died. On February 10, 2024, Orabi. On February 20, my brother, my brother, from one funeral to another.”

In our analysis, we carried out the accurate deaths of the soldiers. If this is not available, we used the date of the funeral or the date of reporting death.

In the first two years of the war, 2022 and 2023, Russian losses followed a wave -like style: heavy fighting with high losses with periods of relative calm.

In 2023, for example, most of the losses occurred between January and March, when Russian forces tried to seize the cities of Vuhledar and Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast.

In the first year of invasion on a large scale, according to our accounts, Russia has lost at least 17,890 soldiers. This number does not include losses from the two powers of the agent in Russia in the occupied eastern Ukraine.

in 2023The number rose to 37633.

in 2024There was no period showing a significant decrease in losses. The bloody battles of Avdiivka and Robotyne followed intense attacks against Pokrovsk and Toretsk.

In August 2024, the Russian recruits were killed when the Ukrainian forces stormed the border to the Kursk region. From 6 to 13 August alone, an estimated 1226 Russian soldiers died.

However, the heaviest total losses occurred during slow Russian progress in the east between September and November 2024, according to American military analyst Michael Kaufman.

“The tactics confirmed repeated attacks with dispersed assault groups, using small infantry firefighting teams, which increased the total losses for the acquired terrain,” he explained.

Nearly two years after intense fighting, Russian forces seized the logistical axis of Folkr in Donetsk on October 1, 2024.

According to the American Institute of War Study (ISW), from September to November 2024, Russian forces acquired 2,356 square kilometers from Ukraine.

Until then, the Ukrainian forces on the front did not collapse.

The cost of this progress was at least 11,678 Russian military deaths.

Actual losses are likely to be higher. We were only calculated on the soldiers and officers whose names appeared in the enmity available to the public, which fell dates of death or a funeral during this period.

In general in 2024, according to ISW, Russia acquired 4,168 square kilometers of Earth. This means that for every square kilometer, 27 Russian soldiers were killed, and this does not include the wounded.

How to change losses

Russia has found ways to renew its exhausted forces.

“Russian employment also increased in the second half of 2024 and overlooked the Russian victims, allowing Moscow to generate additional formations,” Michael Kovman says.

One -time payments for soldiers who sign new contracts have been increased in three Russian regions. Martial salaries for volunteer soldiers are higher than five to seven times of average wage in most areas.

We are also characterized as volunteers for those who subscribed to avoid a criminal prosecution, which was permitted by law in 2024.

Volunteers have become the fastest category of losses in our accounts, and they make up a quarter of those we have identified.

In 2023-2024, thousands of volunteers who signed contracts with the Ministry of Defense were sent to the front lines after only 10-14 days. Experts say the minimum training will significantly reduce their chances of survival.

A Russian republic, Bashkurtustan, witnessed the highest number of losses, with 4,836 confirmed deaths. Most of them were from rural areas and 38 % went to fight without military experience.

One -time payments for the signing of the Russian army contract in UFA 34 times the average salary of the region of 67,575 rubles (600 pounds).

The death account of the open source data will always be incomplete.

This is because the bodies of a large number of soldiers who have been killed in the past months may still be in the battlefield and their recovery are a threat to the service of soldiers.

The real death of the Russian forces increases dramatically, if you include those who fought against Ukraine as part of the popular Republic of Donetsk and Luhansk.

The evaluation of deaths and reports on searches for fighters who lost contact to between 21,000 and 23,500 people have been killed by September 2024.

This would reach the total number of deaths to 185,000 to 260,700 military personnel.
