In 2020, at the height of the Covid Epidem, Guillaume Broche was similar to millions of others worldwide.
“Bored in their work and the desire to do something different.”
By working for the French Gaming giant Ubisoft at the time, he had an idea of his own project – a role -playing game inspired by one of his preferred childhood, the classic Final Fantasy series.
This will become Claire Gambia: Expedition 33, which, after five years, has become a sensation.
She sold a million copies in just three days, and Spotify’s viral plans were topped with soundtracks, and even won praise from French President Emmanuel Macron.
But one of the most prominent things on this topic is the story of how it is made – the random Reddit story story, “the tremendous luck” and an extraordinary approach to the development of the game.
Expedition 33 was set in Lumiere, a fictional world that was overwhelmed by a huge compact carrying a glowing number of his face.
Every year, an entity known as The PleASTION appears and reduces the number after another, causing everyone to disappear, and the game follows a group in seeking to destroy the mysterious object.
It is an interesting collection of an epic story, but the aesthetic of the game, is inspired by France in the nineteenth century, and its battles based on the old school distinguish it.
But the traditional wisdom when clouds began is that the players do not want anything like this.
Therefore, five years ago, he began recruiting people for his passion project, expelling messages on Reddit and online forums for potential colleagues.

One of those who responded was Jennifer Sviberg Yen, who was under insurance in Australia at the time.
“I have seen a post on Reddit by Guillaume asking Voice Actors to register something for free to clarify,” she says.
“I was like:” I never did it, it looks great, “so I sent him a test.”
Jennifer was originally filmed as a major character in an early version of the game, but she eventually turned into the roles to become the team’s leading writer.
Guillaume finally left Ubisoft and formed Sandfall Interactive to work on Claire mysterious full -time from her base in Montpellier, France.
After securing funding from the Kepler Interactive publisher, the primary team grew to about 30 people.
Many of them were found in a similar and unusual way for Jennifer.

The composer Lorien Testard – which has never worked on a video game before – was discovered via posts on Soundcloud to share music.
“I call this cloud effect,” says Jennifer. “It is very good to find really great people,” says Jennifer.
Guillaume is more modest of his success rate to Covid – people looking for a creative port – as well as “huge luck”.
“It is always the same story.”
“I have a list of 15 people to call and I am like:” Well, maybe I will get anyone at all. “
“And every time it is the first like:” Yes, let’s do that. “
But clouds admit that he targeted the people who seemed “in line with the direction” who wanted to take the project.
“Laurian, when we first discussed the game, we had the exact same references,” he says.
“We loved the same thing. We saw the same things. The discussion was very liquid.”
The Expedition 33 for production values - competed from the games on which hundreds, and even thousands of employees have worked.
Guillaume attributes some of this to recent developments in the tools used to make games, allowing the team to work more efficiently.
Kepler’s support allowed studio to attract representatives including Charlie Cox from Dardevil, Lord of the Rings Star andy Serkis, Jennifer English and Ben Starr video.
While Sandfall summoned additional inputs of support studios, musicians and other specialists, Jennifer and Joium says that the main team ended up “wearing a lot of different hats.”
“Therefore, we all enter and do different parts, things that may be outside our traditional role,” says Jennifer, who was also responsible for translating the game into different languages.
“We have a great team often beginners, but they are incredibly investing in the project and talent,” says clouds.
“Somehow succeeded, which is still meaningless for me after all these years.”
