On Wednesday, a Palestinian judge issued a Palestinian man who led protests against the war in Gaza as a student at the University of Colombia and was arrested by immigration officials during an interview about putting the finishing touches on his American nationality.
Mohsen Mahdawi led supporters in the chants that included “no fear” and “Free Palestine”, outside the court in Berlington, in TV. People must meet in defense of both democracy and humanity.
“Never give up the idea that justice will prevail,” he said. “We want to defend humanity, because the rest of the world – and not only Palestine – is watching us. What will happen in America will affect the rest of the world.”
Mahdawi’s notice of appearing before the Immigration Court said that it can be removed under the Immigration and Nationality Law because US Secretary of State Marco Rubio decided to exist and activities “he will have dangerous consequences in foreign policy and will lead to an interest in US foreign policy.”
His lawyers said that Mahdi – a permanent legal resident for a period of 10 years – was detained in response to his speech that defends Palestinian human rights.
The American boycott judge, Jeffrey Croford, issued his ruling on Wednesday after a hearing on Mahdawi, who was arrested by migration and customs enforcement agents on April 14.
The government argued that his detention was a “constitutional valid side of the deportation process” and that the provincial courts are prohibited from hearing challenges to how such procedures began.
