For those of us who have been online for decades, today is a milestone: the twentieth anniversary of the first video downloaded on YouTube. This happened on April 23, 2005, only about a year and a half before Google made the shrewd step to buy the site. This first video is a 19 -second classic clip “I am in the zoo,” The video type that came to identify early YouTube. It is loved, short and has no production values that can be talked about. Quick forward a few decades, YouTube does not have a counterpart in terms of vast volume of audiovisual content –The company says It has been loaded that 20 billion biographical video clips of the mind) have been loaded over the past twenty years, and 20 million per day has been updated.
With all this in mind, engadget staff put their heads together to choose videos that mean more for them over the years. It is not surprising that there are some strange things here, and many of them from the first days of the platform. It is clear that the things that resonate with us are not polishing or production, but the strange things that were not present anywhere.

Test a full set of car mobile batteries for Engadget. Power Bank can re -fill a dead smartphone within an hour to two hours, but thanks to the annoying “progress”, it takes about 20 hours to drain the phone again. I constantly play YouTube videos on my test devices with the brightness of the screen stationed along the way to make them die faster (these poor phones). Favorite videos to be used are the surrounding introductions. Each one is eight hours or so of the scenes, most of which are night views of luxurious Lofts in modern big cities, comfortable bedrooms from the distant past and science fiction. The soundtracks are soft rain, the only winds, crackling fires, remote thunder, and tears from passers -by.
I often return to a warm warm cabin with a comfortable fire and nice winds-a candle-lit bedroom with huge windows overlooking snow-covered pine trees, with a few cups evaporation in the corner. The movements and fine details really come when you play them on a TV. There are a lot of these types of YouTube videos, and recently, the creator has taken the addition of an “non -artificial intelligence” evacuation to video descriptions. It is clear that we see this made of love and skill. The complexity is amazing, and even science fiction views are based on realism. – Amy Scorheim, prominent correspondent
Canadian, please Gonarola and Julia Bentley
I was trying to remember the first YouTube video I was obsessed with and could not tell you frankly. Between Communitychannel, Jake, Amir, Michelle Phaan, Wong Fu Productions and many more, I have a lot of likes and drinks. But I can tell you that I was wandering in the Canadian Canadian Canadian, please, because before it became great to want to be Canadian. This BOP was approved something that you have repeatedly restarted; I memorized the song’s lyrics and chased me in my dreams as well. My most modern preferences change every month, but I am currently adore cinema, frightening, and replaced Wilko, Psychology in Seattle and the School of Life. Oh and also, I don’t go to search for my channel when I am a regular blog in the 2000s. no. – Cherlynn Low, Management Editor
The failure of the national anthem, Karl Lewis
YouTube is not only to watch new videos for celebrities embarrassing themselves. You can also review the humiliation of the road before starting the video site!
Take this performance of the national anthem (Lay bad) by Olympic hostility Karl Lewis. Before a American Professional League match in the 1993 season between Chicago Bulls and New Jersey Nate, the gold medal intervened on the field to show the vocal talent that we deprived of it as he wastes his race in his main years.
This video only includes Louis Lewis’s excerpts (as in the listener of whisk with a belt). But you are still getting an excessive opening note, knowing yourself, “uh!” After making a sound you expect from an animal that was overcome and promised (ultimately united) to compensate for that.
As a reward, this version includes the SPORTSCENTER CHARLIE STEINER deficit to keep its composure after the clip rolls. This is followed by the comment of his father, who deserves the joke that Francis Scott outside the key to Lewis delivery books. – Will Shanklin, the shareholder correspondent

After about 10 years, I still refer to this video every two weeks. I cannot give praise higher than that. – Anna Washingco, joint stock correspondence
Writers
One of the great things in YouTube, to this day, is the huge number of educational videos. I used it to know how to tie a tie, record music, put the furniture and the place to get rid of this furniture when the ghost is abandoned. As you taught me how to cook. This is primarily thanks to one man. He goes by the chef John, but his channel is called desires.
I am completely sure that he is the first cook to benefit from the platform, as he was making video clips and recipes to a large extent from the start. This spaghetti with the teaching of the invalid sauce is more than 18 years old. I chose this particular video because I remember three occasions in my life, as I brought this recipe to insult friends, family and potential romantic partners. I have always clicked on his simple and magical, meaningless cooking approach, and I am not alone. He has more than four million followers on the platform and still comes out videos to this day. His channel is a great reminder of YouTube’s interest in reality. – Lawrence Bonk, the shareholder correspondent
John Fristant – 09 – The new dawn fades
My favorite video on YouTube, which I return year after year, is a group of John Frusciante from Red Hot Chili Peppper, which plays “New Dawn Fades” in a single show in Amsterdam at the beginning of the century. Say what you want in his main band, but John Froskanet is easily one of the greatest living guitarist, and this video – which was filmed in 2001 and was downloaded on YouTube less than a year after the platform appeared on the Internet in 2005 – is the perfect show for many of his talents as a music.
The shots are loved, like many videos of the afternoon, but what matters is that you can hear every slight difference in its performance. With his sweetheart Martin 00-15 FRUSCIANTE plays the vocal guitar, and he plays two at the same time in his simultaneous commercial style, all while singing the words of Ian Cortis with a lot of passion.
As a teenager, I am inspired by the performance of FRUSCIANTE without end. I spent countless hours of summer hours trying to learn and simulate his gameplay. In 2006, I even bought a case The world of guitar Magazine because it came with a DVD disk included an interview with FRUSCIANTE and studied from the man himself on how to play “under the bridge”. Maybe I should know someone Download this video To YouTube. He would have saved me a few dollars.
If we look back in my favorite video throughout these years, it takes what is better than YouTube. You can find almost every performance on the date of music recording. FRUSCIANTE’s performance could have disappeared easily over time. Instead, it will be present now as long as YouTube does, waiting for someone else’s inspiration. – Igor Bonifacic, a great reporter
Fly Away (Keywords)
YouTube is home to an endless stream of influential art, thinking video articles and windows open to the lives of others. More than that, though, it is home to a lot of really stupid disgust. Most of this shit is bad, it can be forgotten as it is lazy. But when someone puts at work to make his stupid idea as possible, when he is enlightened with a stupid extent his idea … when magic occurs.
This is Lenne Kravitz, “Remix” by a comprehensive web artist Neil Ciseriga-who turns the FNEC rock into a poem into a Dragon, and has sex with candy tapes, all during his upbringing “The first Windows XP slices”. It is completely the Internet, something that an eccentric person cannot result with a ridiculous idea and some video editing programs. It is very stupid, but it is also inspired, so it always works for me. Jeff Den, a great reporter
Rancid Female – Low Music Video
A curse, who is that handsome young man who has the worst day in his life in the glorious 280 pixels? Oh waiting, that will be me.
Returning to this day, my splendor and I made a music video of the song Foo Fighters in a competition. Needless to say, we did not win, but we had an absolute explosion. Making something ridiculous with your friends is really fun. Who could have imagined?
After years of ambiguity, the video is still one of the favorite things I have ever done. Yes, Tahrir (Sayati), it does not achieve much of the meaning of narration and the name of our potential production company is very unfortunate.
However, I am really proud of what we put together. Every time I watch it, I get the desire to start entertaining the videos again. Maybe I will do it one day.
Ps nail you and your wonderful mustache forever, Chad Jenson. – Chris Holt, a shareholder correspondent
Satisfaction similar to the bright movie trailer
In the era of artificial intelligence, Fake movie trailers It has become a bit of random mail epidemic on YouTube. But as a person who clearly remembers switching video files for friends and co -workers with email with the attached QuickTime or AVI files – yes, that was exactly the frequency range and the security nightmare that seems – I am still in this rank Smooth Remix is manually edited Near the top of Mount Rushmore on YouTube. ROMCOC’s history is on Kubrick’s Horror Classic to At least 2005But it appears that it is discovered by new fans every few years, and it is right to do so – it is a jewel. Star Trek: Tek Talk
Many people have made musical videos from unexpected transitions like this, but Star Trek: Tik Tok still stands out to me as the best. Each section of the original 1960s series is paired with perfection with the lyrics of songs, and Captain Kirk is strangely suitable for the Kisha party in late 2000.
When I watch it now, I think this video takes a strong spirit of what it means to go virus during the first days of YouTube. It was about creativity, not the content. People were making cinnamon only and funny for that. From time to time, you stumbled on a video of echo and lived in your head free of rent for years. What can I say, I still think this path is a guard. Aw
We love the moon
The first video on YouTube I saw completely left me in what the human mind could “love the moon”. I had no TV at the time, so I had no idea that QUIZNOS used the concept in their commercial ads. When I saw him on my friend’s computer in 2006 or so, I was coming to him. I remember an occurrence that rises in my soul and a smile of idiot my face. I felt that we were living in a world of unlimited creativity and the possibility where pleasure was a guideline and “good” that does not mean access to financing or expensive equipment, artistic ingenuity, or even a decent voice. I and the partnerships of his genes, and we still sang it, whenever the moon, marmothe, eating sticks, or ziplene, are mentioned. Now, I realize that the monsters are strange in a strange way, similar to animals that vibrate the key around the nonsense is an old hat at this stage. But I will never forget when this was first played for me. – like
Where is the right of hell died? 2008
This is the third of the videos of Matt Harding about himself dances badly in various scenic sites all over the world, and the first in which he encouraged passers -by to dance with him – on an equal footing with some exceptions. I have no defenses against large groups of people who do the same time at multiple locations.
I know strangely, but in a society obsessed with division and classification, it reminds me of our common humanity. This video has never failed to bring a tear to my eyes, from accurate political data (Tel Aviv and East Jerusalem were not placed next to each other by chance) to the clear joy of all concerned. I love music so. Sam Radford, a great reporter
