Dan Ericsson is Creator to cut. Apple TV+

GERMAIN LUSIER, IO9: The Gemma rescue was the big goal this season, but how did you get close to telling that story while creating this season with Mark Choice Helly?

Dan EricssonEvery type of bread together, to be honest. I thought it would be an interesting challenge for Mark’s start in this research. Literally, as you know, the first thing you see this season is to open the doors running out and searching for GEMMA. He does so not because he loves her, but because he knows to take it out he loves her. In some way, I think he is responsible. The development of his personality throughout the season was reaching a point where he estimated his life, love and private priorities at an equal level to eat. He felt he himself was a human being and he deserved the things he wanted. This is why at that (final) moment, as you know, stare at Gemma and I think it will be easier for him if he feels love for her, but he does not. And the person who loves him behind him, where he goes.

IO9: The final answers many big questions – goats, Cold Harbor, numbers. How did you decide what you want to answer this season, what could you retract, and was there any hesitation about giving us these answers this season?

Ericsson: certainly. I mean that the good thing about the show is that we have always built it as there was a kind of questions within the questions. We have some meaning now about a kind of numbers on the screen, what they do, where is Mark’s wife, etc., but you can answer these questions directly, but still do not reach “why?” A type of great and frightening, “What is happening in this offer?” Therefore, we tried hard to structure it in a way that gave up your way out of this square from the inside, and do not know the box in which you were until it went out.

IO9: Exit it, is there more about the issue of the reason for choosing Mark and Wagma for Cold Harbour? Since we get some hints at “Chikhai Bardo”, but I am curious if that story ends, or if there is something more.

Ericsson: I think this is something that we should wait and see.

“Woe’s Hollow” was the episode completely. Apple TV+

IO9: Well. “Woe’s Hollow”, for me, in a strange season is still the strangest episode. I loved him. But is any of these things – where is it, who are Dopplegangers, KIRE’s family things – is that an important part of the story goes forward, or is this just a kind of fun, strange things that you like to play?

Ericsson: I can not really say (but) that’s what I will say. Sometimes I think people are asking almost accused. It is like, “Is there really any point for this?” Or, “You are just a stranger to be strange.” And you did not ask in that tone.

IO9: Well, a little.

Ericsson: My feeling is always similar, as a viewer, I love Mada Madness films. And part of it because of the construction of the world only. There are these systems, groups, and the full cultures that we barely allud off, and all you do is building the world. All he does is to give us questions about, “Why does this world work the way it works?” So there are some things in the presentation like this, and we will not intend to detect it because it is fun to have questions. But I also completely understand people who want answers, especially on the questions that we specifically referred to, where we are like, “hey, look at this.” For me, if we refer to something and say, “Look at this”, then do not explain that, that one is upon us.

IO9: Fair enough. With Woe’s Hollow as well as the SALT neck, the second season began to show the world outside KIRE. Do you show more external international factors where you see the story continues?

Ericsson: Yes, I think so. I think we have seen a little before. We have seen Gans College in the first season. But the show has a strange relationship with the outside world. We did not go on a real place. When you are in Lumon, there is a feeling that you are out of time, out of space and confused. This type of the outside world extends slightly. It is acceptable not to know exactly where we are. But we wanted to build this meaning that there is a larger world that plays here and that we are part of something bigger.

Coble returned home in the second season. Apple TV+

IO9: Yes, they have iPhone devices, but they do not have newer cars from 1980. Very interesting. Another thing I was dealing with this season is Mark’s cough. Is this a side effect of reintegration, or is there more?

Ericsson: (Stand) are. You may get a different answer from another person.

IO9: Well.

Ericsson: For me, this is the side effects of reintegration. This is a kind of way I saw.

IO9: Well. Obviously here … well, not “clear”, but “more clearly”, that this MDR was somewhat focused on Cold Harbor, Mark and Gemma. Are all MDR sections the same, or do you have plans to explain more about the meaning of MDR in general?

Ericsson: I can’t enter it a lot. We see that others are other branches, and they know how to do this. But I think there is a question, even in MDR with the four refining refineries, we are not sure who others are improving, if anyone. I think this is still a question.

IO9: Undoubtedly. Now I loved Mr. Milchick returns to Drummond in “After Hours”. A lot of fun. But he seemed to forget the next day with all his dance. Was this an important hint of the challenge to where you see the character going?

Ericsson: Yes, it is. I think Milchick is someone who is still interested in the job, cares about the work and believes in what they do. And I think he is seriously wanting to bring a group of joy and humanity to Enz’s life, a kind of what he was trying to do throughout the season with varying degrees of success. But he is also tired of people directly above him, the way they treat them and the way they appreciate or fail in his appreciation. Sometimes when we are in a systematic or a toxic way systematically, sometimes, we are somewhat trained to put our anger on people closest to us, instead of taking a step back and saying, “Hey, is this whole system bad? Does this whole system harm me and harm others?” So I think it is a very human reaction, as you know, is not not worthy, but it directs this Vitriol in Mr. Drummond instead of the major company.

Severance 5 Mark Milchick
A very intense moment. Apple TV+

IO9: Whatever the company is the largest. We still know about the painting, and a lot of things. Well, this, unfortunately, my last question, and may not even be able to answer it, but We get the third season. What is the biggest question that fans should think about going more to cut?

Ericsson: I think the question in Mark and Hilley’s mind will be just “What now?” I think they chose to continue to live, and I think they do not know what exactly this means, how long they have, if this is something they can be able to exist for another two or 10 years? And so is the question, what will you do to keep your existence? Now that you have seen yourself as an individual, you started getting to know who you are, what would you do to defend that?

IO9: I love it, and I have a billion other questions, but this is my time. Thank you very much for the offer and talk to us today. I can’t wait to talk to you for the third season.

Ericsson: Thank you very much. I can’t wait either.
