5 box office lessons Hollywood can learn from the Sonic movies

Surprisingly, it is only in recent years that Hollywood has been able to crack the code on video game adaptations. Apart from these films, we have had huge hits on the small screen like ‘Fallout’ and ‘The Last of Us’. But at the same time, in terms of the film, We keep making blunders like Eli Roth’s “Borderlands.” Still a mixed bag. What “Sonic” is saying is that video games can indeed represent a bright future for on-screen franchises, but only if they’re done right.

Video games have a huge built-in audience. They often contain vast worlds filled with rich stories. When things go well, we can have big hits like “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” These fans are very loyal. However, for decades, studios seemed to show a virtual lack of respect for the source material in adapting video games for the big screen. Time and time again, we’ve seen things go wrong. The studios seem to be saying, “Look, these video game movies aren’t working!”

What “Sonic the Hedgehog” helped show widely is that video game movies can work very well, and it’s all about execution. Undeniably, most of the time, the problems were related to implementation. very sure, Maybe Hollywood should try making a “Grand Theft Auto” movie.or any number of other popular video games, but they have to do so respectfully, taking a page from the franchise’s book rather than bending well-known characters to fit a story that doesn’t feel natural.
