In a publication on X (previously Twitter), Kaushik referred to the rise in foreign education spending: “From 2,400 rupees to 29,000 rupees – depletion of wonderful education funds.” In 2013-14, Indian families spent 2,429 rupees to send their children abroad to higher studies. After a decade, in 2023-24, this figure rose to 29,000 rupees-jackets 12 x.

But the real sting lies in hidden charges. In 2024 alone, Indian families lost more than 1700 rupees due to banking fees and currency transfer signs – the money was shaved before reaching the student. “This is the money that can be paid for months of rent, additional courses, or even the tuition fees for the semester – went before you reach the student,” Kaushik pointed out.

• A sharp rise in students heading abroad to obtain degrees.
• A sharp rise in tuition fees and living costs abroad.
• Higher bank fees for transfers across the border.

Pain is not limited to foreign degrees. In the homeland, private education often comes the quality of information on study fees, books, uniforms, transportation and activities – increasingly away from the middle class. In higher education, professional courses in medicine, engineering and administration are charged as a whisper, forcing many to long -term loans. Even public colleges come at their own price in terms of housing and daily expenses.

This growing financial pressure depth the gap – which makes education a privilege for those who can withstand its costs, while leaving the rest scraps to keep up with.

Until low -cost payment systems are more intelligently, parents who send children abroad will continue to pay a silent tax that can be avoided.
