Global goods exports in India are likely to get only 1.87 %, although the United States imposes a 25 % tariff on Indian imports, according to a new white paper issued by the Ph.DCCI Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The report, which analyzes the effects of the tariff that entered into force on August 7, 2025, leads to the total effect of a possible export at 8.1 billion dollars, which is a relatively small part of the total exports in India in India worth $ 86.5 billion in the 2015 fiscal year. The impact on GDP is expected to be 0.19 % (in fact).

“India is still the fastest growing economy among the main global players. The challenge of customs tariffs, albeit absolutely noticeable, can be controlled in its total economic impact,” said Hemnant Jin, President of PHDCCI.

The most affected sectors include engineering commodities ($ 1.8 billion), electronics ($ 1.4 billion), pharmaceutical preparations (986 million dollars), gemstones and jewelry (932 million dollars), and ready -made clothes ($ 500 million).

PHDCCI has put a strategic response to market penetration, product development, market diversification, and beach manufacturing partnerships to counter influence and enhance export flexibility.

“This turmoil provides an opportunity to accelerate the export of geographical development and diversification,” Jain added.

Despite the opposite winds, growth expectations in India remain strong, as the International Monetary Fund expects 6.4 % GDP growth in 2025-26, which is the highest among major economies.
