Formula 1 crosses the Atlantic to begin a crucial phase of the 2025 world title race, as the US Grand Prix in Austin hosts its fourth weekend of the season, live Sky Sports F1.
The first leg of a doubleheader with the Mexico City Grand Prix, then followed in November by trips to Brazil and Las Vegas, the conduct of racing in the Americas could play a pivotal role in the final outcome of this year’s Drivers’ Championship battle.
It is a title battle that ended again after drama and controversy in the streets of Singapore with Lando Norris, which reduced the lead of his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri to 22 points and Max Verstappen reduced the gap to 63 points.
The Sprint Weekend means there are a maximum of 33 drivers up for grabs at Circuit of the Americas, making a quick start and consistency throughout the weekend particularly important for all three championship contenders.
With the constructors’ title wrapped up and clinched in record time, McLaren will be aiming to return to the racetracks for the first time in four races and keep any on-track tension between Piastri and Norris at bay after the duo collided wheels on the first lap in Singapore.

Mercedes’ George Russell will be aiming to make a run at the front again after his impressive win against the title contenders at the Marina Bay Circuit, while Ferrari will hope the Mexican American’s back-to-back will bring some late cheer to their disappointing season when they return to the venues where they last won a year ago.
With Austin six hours behind the UK and Ireland, the US Grand Prix weekend represents prime-time evening viewing Sky Sports F1 Viewers, headlining the 56-lap race at 8pm on Sunday 19 October.
US GP Track – Circuit of the Americas
Of the newer permanent circuits to join the calendar over the past two decades, Circuit of the Americas is certainly one of the best.
The undulating, 3.4-mile, 20-corner layout built on the outskirts of Austin quickly proved a hit with drivers when it debuted in 2021 as the first made-to-measure F1 home in the USA.
There was also a sense of familiarity given that its track design was inspired by some of the most famous tracks in Europe.

The Esses section, reminiscent of the legendary high-speed Maggotts and Becketts complex at Silverstone, forms turns three to six, while the Turn 8-style reverse triple apex challenge at Istanbul Park and the Hockenheim-style arena section feature on the exciting counter-clockwise lap.
The circuit also has its own distinctive feature in the form of a steep climb up to Turn 1, which has been the scene of numerous overtakes and controversial incidents over the past 13 years when drivers go wheel-to-wheel in the wide braking zone before returning down the slope towards the Esses.
