A Mumbai-based graphic designer with 14 years of experience took to LinkedIn to share his challenging journey after being laid off and the difficulties he faced in finding new work. Kamlesh Kamtekar’s heartfelt post resonated widely and went viral as he highlighted the harsh realities of unemployment and his remarkable decision to switch careers entirely.

Kamtekar, who previously worked as an assistant creative director, detailed his exhaustive job search efforts, which included sending out numerous resumes and extensive networking. He began by saying, “It’s been almost 5 months since I lost my job due to company cost cutting. As an assistant creative director with 14 years of experience in graphic design, I’ve been trying to find a new job after losing my previous job.”

“I’ve reached out to several friends for referrals, but I haven’t been successful yet. I’ve applied for several jobs on LinkedIn as well, but my applications keep getting rejected.

Facing repeated rejections, Kamtekar discovered that many companies were unable to meet his salary expectations. This prompted him to consider an unconventional path: “After those comments, I thought, why not start my own business and earn money with the same low salary instead of working somewhere else? At least I would have my own income,” he explained.

Choosing to follow a new path, Kamtekar made a bold decision to leave his graphic design skills behind and become an auto rickshaw driver. “So I decided to sacrifice all my designing skills and drive an auto-rickshaw. Give me your blessings for my new business,” he concluded.
