“100 % mandatory attendance”: The company requires 1,200 rupees of employees for the Diwali party, Internet users interact

The Reddit Publisher has become a virus after it ignited a screenshot of a company’s WhatsApp screen. This post claims that the company made the celebration “mandatory” and asked employees to contribute to the money to cover the costs.

According to WhatsApp contacts, employees were instructed to contribute 1,200 party rupees, while managers were asked to pay 2000 rupees. The message also included a classification sign that alcohol would be “on the house”.

The publication was shared on R/Indianworkplace Subreddit with the explanatory name: “This is embarrassing for a company.” The user who downloaded the screenshot of the company criticized the company, saying: “Imagine that you ask your employees to present a boring party – and the place is also bad.”

Online reactions

The post has quickly gained attention, as many Reddit users comment on both the tone and communication. One of the users indicated that the use of WhatsApp for official messages holds the separation line between personal and professional life. The user said: “If your company is communicating via WhatsApp, then it disrupts the professional and personal life lines. Whatsapp is not for professional conversations, that is, a company that does not care about professionalism, a sign that you must get out of as soon as possible.”

Another commentator note that any company does this “don’t care about professionalism”, which is “a sign that you must go out.”
